using the forest - disrespecting the forest

1900
Before The War

People had parties for the people leaving for the war. The former Bullarto police constable and hall committee secretary, William McNamara, lost his life in battle. Lots of the people in the war lost their lives. Before the First World War people thought it would be amazing. After the war people thought the war was terrible.

1942
Using The Creek

In 1942 the Bullarto Township was a lot bigger than it is now. The path to the creek was used for getting water and the annual bird watching day. It also connected to the Old Blackwood Road. There was a horse paddock and a logging track from the Wombat Forest.

Rubbish and Weeds Unite!

When the seed shot, trouble started.

Pine trees in the nearby school dropped seeds and young seedlings began to grow. Over the years they became tall and showered pine needles down onto the ground which stopped new native plants germinating. Foxes and birds dropped blackberry and holly seeds onto the ground and they sprouted. They grew well and covered the native plants which starved to death from no sun and very little water.
